BOROUGH PRESIDENT AND COUNCILMAN DE BLASIO CONDEMN ANTI-SEMITIC GRAFFITI

Photograph by Kathryn Kirk

Borough President Marty Markowitz and Councilman Bill DeBlasio condemned an apparent act of anti-Semitism outside a home in Kensington today. Last week, the family discovered graffiti on its garage, including the letters "JEWZ." The Borough President was happy, along with the Economic Development Corporation, to remove the graffiti through his borough-wide graffiti removal program.

"I was appalled by this apparent anti-Semitic incident when I found out about it yesterday morning when a concerned citizen called my office," Borough President Markowitz said. "I know the 66th Precinct is doing all it can to catch who ever was responsible for this despicable graffiti.
This isolated incident of stupidity and ignorance is not an indication of how people feel throughout the borough. The person responsible for this is definitely in need of the Lord's help. Brooklynites strongly embrace our religious and cultural diversity - it is our greatest strength."
