By Francine Skye Lentini
"What is a poet laureate?"
She asked the crowd
Ken is the one from Brooklyn
One answered her aloud
He was chosen by the borough president
I think, some time the last year
"But 'what' is a poet laureate?"
She asked, "I am still unclear"
He's a poet among poets
Who's distinguished himself from the rest
He was given that honor
For being the best of the best
It is a position for one to strive for
As his poetry opens your mind as well as your ears
And when his words are clearly spoken
Even to the blind his visions appear
The poet laureate is a person to honor
His poems are a vision to seek
As his words go far past the pages
And his vision touches one's soul so deep
Dedicated to
Ken Siegelman
